Diabetic Kidney Disease 

As the name depicts, diabetic kidney disease has a strong association with diabetes. This disease is actually caused by diabetes. So, the leading cause of this kidney disease seems to be diabetes. The main job which our kidneys do is the filtration of water and wastes out of our blood for making the urine. If there is no filtration of water and wastes, kidney failure occurs which is a life-threatening condition. Diabetic kidney disease is also referred to as diabetic nephropathy and this is a serious complication of both diabetes type 1 and type 2. There is estimation that about 1 in 3 persons suffering from diabetes have diabetic kidney disease or diabetic nephropathy.

Affects of Diabetic Kidney Disease

Diabetic kidney disease mainly affects the ability of human kidneys to do the proper working of removing the extra fluid as well as waste products from the body. The recommended way in order to get prevention from this diabetic kidney disease is to maintain a proper and healthy lifestyle and it is mandatory to manage high blood pressure and diabetes. If kidney disease is not managed at the proper time, this becomes life-threatening and can lead to the death of the human being.

Causes of Diabetic Kidney Disease

Diabetic kidney disease or diabetic nephropathy results when diabetes in the human body damages the cells and blood vessels in the kidneys. When these blood vessels in the body are damaged, they stop working and thus, leading to high blood pressure in the human body which leads to damage the human kidney.

Risk Factors for Diabetic Kidney Disease

 Different factors that help to increase the risk of diabetic kidney disease or diabetic nephropathy includes:

  • High Blood Cholesterol
  • Smoking
  • Obesity
  • Alcohol
  • Hypertension (High-Blood Pressure)
  • Hyperglycemia (High-Blood Sugar)
  • Family History (Kidney Disease and Diabetes)
