Carpal Tunnel Syndrome
Approximately 1 to 5% of the US population suffers from Carpal Tunnel Syndrome, a painful condition that often puts limits on the things the patient can do with their hands. When we lose any access to our hands, it really hurts our life and oftentimes affects us mentally.
Carpal Tunnel Syndrome is caused by pressure on the median nerve in the hand. When the median nerve becomes compressed at the wrist, CTS develops.
Persons affected by CTS experience symptoms including numbness and tingling in the hand, hand weakness, clumsiness, shock-like sensations, burning sensation in the hand, and others. People suffering from CTS often drop things because their hand gives out on them.
CTS has many causes, including:
- Diabetes
- High Blood Pressure
- Thyroid Dysfunction
- Autoimmune disorders
- Fractures/trauma to the hand or wrist
- Fluid retention during pregnancy
Common treatments for CTS include ice packs, OTC and prescription pain relievers, cortisone injections, surgery, and now, K-Laser Therapy. Of the choices, only K-Laser Therapy is safe, a risk-free option that offers near-immediate pain relief.
